We went to the Multicultural Summer Institute of Occidental College in Los Angeles to San Diego with a delegation of Tijuana, to educate ourselves about the issues of borders and immigration. Go to the Tijuana border, we were not stopped. We were stopped at a checkpoint Coming Back. Since we were all on the bus, we took our college ID. It seemed routine enough. The Border Patrol officer was on the bus and only our country of nationality, aviator sunglasses on and asked to hand theHolster. Since there are different countries represented at the MSI, in Los Angeles, and (in reality) in San Diego, there were three students who are not U.S. citizens (they had permanent residence). They were also asked their country of citizenship, despite my self holding a U.S. passport and New Hampshire driver's license. The three were taken off the bus and interrogated at least half an hour. After he was allowed back on the bus, the two boys were heldoutside of an additional set of questions in which they were threatened with arrest as possible and held in federal custody. At one point there were only five officers with the two boys. Eventually he was allowed back on the bus, but only after all our coach was searched under discussion (including chassis and body) and our bus drivers and controls. This was more than "just routine".
